While majority view that saving energy will somehow solve the energy shortage problem, the belief might be true in short term, yet long term solution might require more aggressive move.
Looking at the demand side, people believed that they will be able to provide energy in the future by using less energy today. As a result, price of energy would not rise to the highest levels; yet, consumption will remain the same (or increase). This means that while some are conserving energy others are using it for their personal satisfaction. The result is fluctuating increasing trend in energy price despite the energy conservation campaign. As the Philippines economy progress, much energy will be required and price of energy will no longer trend down.
Energy problem of the future can no longer be solved by just conserving energy. Today should be the start of development of alternative energies to ensure the energy of the future.
